What's On The Menu Eats started when restaurants began reopening after Covid. People kept asking where to go for good African food around the UK, so this list came together: a number of hand-selected restaurants, in one place, so you can look for yourself and decide. It's a guide to African kitchens across the UK, from Nigerian and Ghanaian to Congolese, Ivorian, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Somali, Senegalese, Gambian and Southern African.
Since then, a lot of these restaurants have been reviewed, always with an honest take on what worked and what didn't. Many have been visited in person; the rest are on the list to try.
One of the biggest changes over that time has been how much African restaurants have grown, and how differently they're being marketed. Most people have no idea how many great options are actually out there. It felt important to have one platform that showcases African restaurants across the UK, so that's what this is.
